Curatorial Centre
Opened in 1995, the Waterloo Region Curatorial Centre is the hub of our behind-the-scenes activities.
The Curatorial Centre has 1858 square metres (20,000 square feet) of artifact storage spread across four different rooms. Environmental controls, inert storage materials, and enhanced security ensure that the collections we steward are preserved today and for the future.
Two fully equipped conservation labs are used to perform scientific examination, cleaning, and repairs on the artifacts, belongings, and archival materials in our collections.
An expansion in 2009 to the Curatorial Centre added a 325 square metre (3,500 square foot) exhibit design studio and fabrication workshop to the building. These spaces support exhibit programs across all our sites.
Costume storage, change rooms, and laundry facilities in the Curatorial Centre support the living history activities in Doon Heritage Village.
The Waterloo Region Curatorial Centre is located behind the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum and can be accessed through Gate 1 (directly off Homer Watson Boulevard).
Public tours of the Curatorial Centre must be arranged in advance, and fees do apply. Please contact us at 519-748-1915 or email us to book a tour.
