Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum Group Tours
The award-winning Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum offers fun and educational experiences for all ages. Tour the largest Canadian museum featuring spectacular exhibits. Also, the entrance to Doon Heritage Village, a seasonal, picturesque living history village showcasing life in 1914. The Village features historic buildings, costumed staff, farm animals, and heritage gardens. Step back in time and discover modern 20th-century technology, farming and daily chores.
Discounted Self-Guided Group Tour Admission: $9.00 plus HST.

Motor coaches stop at the front door of the museum with ample free parking.

The specialty programs below are designed to provide a custom museum experience for participants. Each program features multi-sensory activities, group discussion, and an opportunity to discover the history around us. Before or after your program, take extra time and explore more of the historic village, museum galleries or shop for that special souvenir in our gift shop.

Inkspired in Waterloo
The Fraktur Experience - Jump into the stylish world of Fraktur, the fancy German script that found a home right here in Waterloo! Discover its fascinating past, then get crafty as you try your hand at making your very own snazzy artwork. History, art, or just curious? This workshop will have you writing in style and loving every minute!
Memories of a Mennonite Kitchen
Visit the Martin House for an Old Order Mennonite kitchen experience. Find out about typical meals and sample some Mennonite favourites from the early 20th century. Explore the house from attic to cellar to see how food was stored and prepared.
An Afternoon at Doon
Immerse your group in this two-hour program in our 1914 living history village. Help with daily chores in a historic farmhouse, make a special handcraft to take home, tend to our farm animals, and challenge each other by playing historic games. End your experience with a sampling of homemade treats and beverages in the heart of Doon Village. Afterward, take some time to explore our local history exhibit and see what’s new in our rotating gallery space. (Available August-November 2026)
New Tour Package: “ Behind Bars and Bites”
Presented by: Region of Waterloo Museums and The Walper Hotel (Available August-November 2026)
Want to explore the dark and mysterious stories behind the Waterloo County Jail? This tour brings visitors to the Jail’s façade to learn about inmates' lives and the stories that brought them behind bars. After one hour exploring the grounds, visitors will move to the Walper Hotel to experience meals inspired by ingredients from an 1836 jail menu.
From jailbreaks and notorious animal theft to disturbing divine services, this tour promises to inspire imagination and forge a connection with the dark histories of Kitchener’s past.

Whisking Back in Time: Holiday Flavours in Waterloo
Step back in time this holiday season to uncover the tasty traditions and cozy customs that shaped festive kitchens in the Waterloo Region. Join us for a warm and flavorful journey filled with stories, scents, and maybe a secret recipe or two, perfect for sparking holiday cheer! After the presentation, walk through Doon Heritage Village and discover a beautifully decorated village showcasing the holiday season from the early 1900s.

McDougall Cottage Historic Site Group Events
Bring your group of up to 24 people for one of McDougall Cottage’s ever-popular “Teas by the Grand”.
Experience a delightful afternoon tea in a c.1858 limestone cottage in the heart of downtown Cambridge. McDougall’s classic tea includes a selection of tea sandwiches, tarts, scones with preserves and whipped cream, button shortbread, and tea.

Schneider Haus National Historic Site Museum Experiences
Programs are 1.5 hours long and feature hands-on activities. Take time before or after to browse our gift shop or relax outside in our new outdoor space (weather depending).
Old Haus, New Stories
During this immersive tour, you will explore Schneider Haus and its many inhabitants throughout the decades! If only these walls could talk – oh, the stories they would tell! Enjoy a tour through the museum, sample some timely treats, and test your knowledge with a rousing ‘Decide the Decade’ trivia challenge.
Pretzel Making Workshop
Learn how to twist the perfect pretzel! Join us in our historic kitchen to make pretzels and enjoy an immersive tour of the house while your creations bake. You’ll get a sneak peek of our historic bake oven while you’re here. End your visit by enjoying your pretzels fresh out of the oven!
