Our interactive museum birthday party packages provide the perfect way to celebrate your special day! We will work with you to make your party a memorable and fun occasion for all your guests. We have two great locations to plan your special day. Check out the offerings below for Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum and Schneider Haus National Historic Site. Birthday Parties at Schneider Haus National Historic Site

It’s party time! Choose from seven different birthday themes and celebrate your special day with us at Schneider Haus! 

Parties are a flat rate of $250, which accommodates 10 children. Additional children are $25 per child.  Birthday parties are available on Saturdays and Sundays only, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m. Some party themes are only available during certain time slots. Please submit a party request for details. Each birthday party package includes the following:

  • Hands-on activities with a museum representative (60 minutes)
  • Decorated party room for 60 minutes; plates, napkins, and cups provided
  • Special badge for the birthday child
  • Free parking
  • Free adults (please note that due to space restrictions, we do have limitations on the number of adults we can accommodate) 
  • We encourage you to bring in your own food and beverages to make the party your own!

Party Themes

Walk on the Wild Side: Ages 3-5

Foxes, otters, and bears, oh my! Take a walk on the wild side with this special birthday theme. Track animals found right in our backyard with scavenger hunts, games, and crafts. It’s going to be a wild time!

Haus p-ART-y: Ages 5-13

Love making art? This Print-Making party is wonderfully colourful and messy! Want to show off your creations? Bring in a gently used item of clothing, a pillow case, tote bag to upcycle and print directly on it for all to admire!

Kitchen Chemistry - Twist Yourself a Pretzel: Ages 5-13

Science and baking combine to create a tasty treat!  Do you prefer your pretzels salty or sweet? Can’t decide - why not make both? Participants will eat their creations warm out of the oven!

Makerspace Junior: Ages 5-8

Does your kiddo love to experiment and get messy? Look no further than our Makerspace Junior party! Kids get the chance to get messy making slime and exploring sticky, gooey oobleck. After a bit of messy play, kids will try their hand at an engineering challenge based on the storybook “It’s not a box!”. 

History Mysteries: Ages 8-13

Calling all super sleuths, we need your help! Party-goers will receive a top-secret briefing about a missing artifact. Gather the clues throughout the historic Haus and grounds and piece together evidence to solve the mystery!

Birthday Parties at Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum

Did someone say “party”? Have your birthday celebration at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum!

Each party theme has a flat fee that ranges from $300, which accommodates 10 children. Additional children are $30 per child. Birthday parties are available on Saturdays and Sundays only.

All packages are two hours and include:

  • Hands-on activities with a museum representative (1 hour).
  • 1 hour of free time in a party room; plates, cutlery, and tablecloths provided.
  • No cost for adults.
  • Free parking.
  • You may bring in your own food and beverages.

You are welcome to bring your own decorations, but latex or helium balloons and candles are prohibited in all party spaces. This includes birthday cake candles. Decorations can only be affixed to walls using green painter's tape, which the museum can provide.

Party Themes

Teddy Bear Garden Party: Ages 3-7

Maximum number of participants: 20

From the moment the party begins, kids and their teddy bears will be swept into an enchanting day of dress-up, play, and creativity. The fun starts with the Teddy Bear Parade, where little ones and their bears can strut their stuff in colorful costumes and accessories.
Next up, it’s tea time — with a twist! The teddy bears forgot the snacks, so kids will go on a playful scavenger hunt through the museum to gather everything needed for the perfect garden tea party.
Then it’s time to get creative with Pot Painting, where each child decorates their own eco-flower pot to take home as a keepsake.
Full of imagination, exploration, and sweet memories, the Teddy Bear Garden Party is the perfect way to celebrate your little one’s big day!

Game On!: Ages 6-11

Maximum number of participants: 20

Start your engines — it’s time for a high-speed, high-fun “Game On!” Birthday Party at the museum!
The fun kicks off with a thrilling video game race-off, where kids choose their favorite zany characters and compete in a fast-paced tournament on the big screen. But that’s just the beginning!
In between races, kids can go old-school with awesome retro games like rock 'em, sock 'em robot battles and a twisty-turny round of Twister! Whether they’re throwing punches (the fun kind!) or getting tangled up in giggles, there's fun for everyone — no controllers required.
Then it’s time to take the action off-screen with a supercharged epic Egg Hunt through the museum’s main gallery! Bright, colorful eggs will be hidden in every corner — ready for little racers to track down and collect.
With video game thrills, retro game laughs, and non-stop action, this birthday party is a total blast for kids who love to play — no matter how they like to race!

  • Playing Nintendo Switch video games (staff help children take turns)

Mini Scientists: Ages 3-6

Maximum number of participants: 15

Get ready for a birthday celebration bursting with bubbles, giggles, and science magic! At the Mini Scientist Party, your little one and their friends will step into a quirky lab where imagination meets hands-on discovery. Led by a lively “zany scientist” host in a full lab coat and goggles, junior scientists will dive into exciting, age-appropriate experiments designed just for them.
Kids will erupt their own fizzing volcanoes, whip up colorful batches of homemade play dough, and watch in wonder as colors swirl and dance in the Magic Milk experiment. They'll explore color theory in a hands-on color mixing lab, then set off on a gooey adventure with the Slime Scavenger Hunt, collecting and cleaning up an experiment gone wrong throughout the museum!
With laughter, learning, and plenty of mess (the fun kind!), the Mini Scientist Party is the perfect mix of curiosity, creativity, and birthday joy — all in one unforgettable day.

Lab Rats: Ages 7-11

Maximum number of participants: 15

Calling all junior scientists! Step into the world of Lab Rats, where birthday fun meets hands-on experiments that wow and inspire.
Get ready to create explosive elephant toothpaste eruptions, power up a real citrus battery, and reveal secret messages with invisible ink. Explore the colorful magic of cabbage chemistry and finish with a gooey, stretchy slime making session — the perfect take-home experiment!
Our expert museum educators guide your Lab Rats through each exciting activity, making science easy to understand and a total blast to discover.
If your kid loves to experiment, explore, and have fun, the Lab Rats Birthday Party is the perfect recipe for an unforgettable celebration full of curiosity and discovery!

Astronaut Academy: Ages 7-11

Maximum number of participants: 20

Blast off into an out-of-this-world astronaut-themed birthday at the museum! Young astronauts are in for a cosmic adventure, starting with a space food sampling station where they can try fun, freeze-dried treats just like real astronauts. As the party winds down, everyone will gather for an incredible star show, where they’ll explore our backyard night sky and learn about constellations and galaxies far away.  Time to get hands-on! You’ll create galaxy slime using special space ingredients – stretchy, squishy, and sparkly like the Milky Way itself.
With interactive activities, educational fun, and plenty of space-themed excitement, this astronaut birthday party is the perfect way for kids to celebrate and explore the wonders of space in a museum setting!

Cancellation Policy:

All birthday party bookings are non-refundable. If you need to cancel your party, we are happy to reschedule your booking to another available date. Requests to reschedule must be made in advance of your scheduled party date. Rescheduled parties are subject to availability.
