HerStory - A Woman's Life, 1850 to 1900

On exhibit February 21 to December 2021

Doctor, Tailor, Chef, Activist, Farmer, Writer, Artist, Entrepreneur - Victorian women could claim all these vocations and more.

Who was the Victorian woman? Women have always been active and important members of the communities where they live, work, and grow, and the women of this area are no exception.

In honour of International Women's Day, McDougall Cottage will be launching an exhibit showcasing what life was life for local Victorian women. From interesting clothing and hygiene habits, to the struggle for work and political rights, what you learn about a woman's life might surprise you!
