Earth in Focus: Insights from Space

Exhibit opens October 21, 2023 at the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum

Discover our spectacular and fragile planet from a new perspective. Earth in Focus: Insights from Space, a special exhibition developed by the Canada Science and Technology Museum in collaboration with the Canadian Space Agency explores the advantages and benefits of observing the Earth from the unique point of view of space.

Our presence in space provides many benefits. It allows us to study and monitor Earth’s changing systems. It offers a unique vantage point from which people can understand and respond to global challenges.

Featuring breathtaking photos taken from space, Earth in Focus offers visitors a truly remarkable perspective of our planet. Visitors will discover the technologies and innovations of the Canadian space program through interactive and immersive experiences, including a mix of stunning photographs taken by astronauts, associated with satellite imagery. Drawing links to their own experiences, visitors will better understand how the data collected from space helps us feed a growing population, keep people safe from natural disasters such as forest fires and extreme weather, and monitor our changing planet.

Visit Earth in Focus and discover the essential role satellite imaging and space photography play in the understanding of our rapidly changing planet.
